Haze is a suspension in the air of extremely small, dry particles that are invisible to the naked eye and sufficiently numerous to give the air an opalescent appearance.
In this picture, haze progressively obscures the detail of successive hill slopes further from the camera. The haze was caused by general pollution and smoke from small bonfires which stagnated over successive days in the sheltered central valley of Nepal during the winter.

The dry north-east monsoon brought generally fine but hazy weather to the coastal areas of Guangdong, China. Haze reduced the visibility at Hong Kong International Airport to 1 900 m at the time this photograph was taken.
Haze is a suspension in the air of extremely small, dry particles. As light is scattered by haze particles, distant bright objects (in this case, the Sun and the surrounding bright sky) appear yellowish or reddish in colour.

This is the first in a series of four pictures that show the onset of a dust storm or sandstorm due to shamal winds.

These photographs show three successive aspects of the same landscape, with different turbidities of the air, corresponding respectively to total visibilities of 25, 100 and 400 km. When there is a veil of haze (0944 hours) the distant landscape has a greyish opalescent colour. When the visibility is good (1407 hours, in this image) the landscape takes on a much stronger blue hue and the real colours and details of the countryside appear.
The views were taken in an anticyclonic situation, outside the area of any disturbance.
