Clouds from which Cirrocumulus may form

Cirrocumulus often forms evolves the:

  • Transformation of Cirrus (Cc cirromutatus)
  • Transformation of Cirrostratus (Cc cirrostratomutatus)
  • Decrease in size of the elements of a patch, sheet or layer of Altocumulus (Cc altocumulomutatus)

Persistent contrails (Ci homogenitus) can, over a period of time and under the influence of strong upper winds, transform into Cirrocumulus (Cc homomutatus).
