Drifting and Blowing Snow

(Section 3.2.1.3.1)

Definition: Drifting and blowing snow: An ensemble of snow particles raised from the ground by a sufficiently strong and turbulent wind.

The occurrence of this hydrometeor depends on the wind conditions (speed and gustiness) and the state and age of the surface snow. There are two sorts of phenomenon: drifting snow and blowing snow.
