Cirrocumulus is distinguished from Altocumulus by:

  • Most elements being very small (an apparent width of less than 1° when observed at an angle of more than 30° above the horizon)
  • Not having any shading
  • No halo (uncommon in Altocumulus and usually only a partial halo when of a circular nature)
