Lightning
(Section 3.2.4.1.1)Definition: Lightning:A luminous manifestation accompanying a sudden electrical discharge that takes place from or inside a cloud or, less often, from high structures on the ground or from mountains.
Three main types of lightning can be distinguished. In addition, there are other forms of luminous electrical manifestations. Note also that lightning may sometimes be observed in association with volcanic ash plumes during eruptions.
